Semi-organic means both safe and delicious

There’s a natural quality to the semi-organic red beans produced with minimal pesticides in the North American plains. These crops take advantage of the low temperatures and low humidity, much like those that grow in the Japanese farms of Hokkaido. The result is elegant flavors and soft hulls. To make the best use of such naturally cultivated beans, Akanemaru prepares its sugar content at 45° as opposed to the normal 52°. This gently brings out the sweetness and gives pastries and breads an elegant tingle without rendering them heavy. We’re talking about bountifully flavored sweetened bean paste from the natural earth. Please consume these in kind, and use a generous amount of wrapping.

Anko Hotteok is a Korean An-pan that makes you feel good all around

“Hotteok” is a Korean springy dough fast food that’s deep-fried and crunchy. Here we have some wonderful semi-organic sweetened bean paste sweets made with glutinous dough comprised of strong flour and refined rice flour. The snack is then deep fried in oil. It makes for an all-around satisfying treat with the inside as delicious and appealing as the outside. Another recommendation is our Sake Manjuu with red wine. This is a Japanese steamed cake with sweetened bean paste and springy dough combined with the snappy aroma of fruity wine. It has an elegant flavor that doesn’t detract from the nose of the wine.
